Usher’s New Look Takes Career Readiness on Tour

Usher’s New Look is giving young professionals a rare opportunity to learn what it takes to bring a major concert tour to life.
Through its Entertainment Industry Club: Live Touring Edition, the nonprofit is placing emerging talent behind the scenes of Usher and Chris Brown’s 2026 R&B Tour. The paid internship program is designed to create access to careers in live entertainment, an industry where opportunities are often difficult to find without established connections.
Selected interns have been gaining hands-on experience in areas including tour production, multimedia and wardrobe. Their responsibilities may include supporting backstage operations, assisting with stage preparation, capturing photo and video content, coordinating garments and helping professional touring teams keep each show running smoothly.
The program goes beyond observing from the sidelines. Interns will receive professional training, participate in an intensive orientation and travel with the tour while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. They will also learn the importance of communication, collaboration, confidentiality and adaptability—skills that are essential both on tour and across the entertainment industry.
A community engagement component adds another layer of purpose. Interns are expected to participate in activations with local Boys & Girls Clubs, helping younger people understand the wide range of careers available beyond the spotlight. Through related “Making of the Tour” sessions, youth will gain exposure to the technical, creative and business roles that make live performances possible.
This initiative reflects Usher’s New Look’s broader mission of preparing young people for leadership, entrepreneurship and meaningful careers. By combining paid work, mentorship, travel and real-world experience, the program is helping participants build both skills and professional networks.
This is philanthropy in action: using access, influence and industry relationships to open doors that might otherwise remain closed.
