From Goodies to Giving:Ciara Invests in Atlanta's Next Generation
More than twenty years after Goodies helped introduce Ciara to the world, the Grammy-winning artist is investing in the city that helped launch her career.
On July 28, Ciara marked the third annual Ciara Day in Atlanta by announcing a $50,000 investment in local youth-serving organizations, in partnership with the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Film, Entertainment and Nightlife.

The funding will be distributed as $5,000 grants to 10 organizations providing opportunities for young people across music, film, fashion, technology, sports, dance, education and leadership.
Recipients include Atlanta Music Project, Black Girls Film Camp, Dance 411 Foundation, Game Elite AAU, Le Fashion Lab, RenderATL, Savannah College of Art and Design, Scratch Out Loud DJ Academy, Soccer in the Streets and the Black Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association.
The grants are designed to support tangible opportunities, from musical instruments and class fees to scholarships, athletic equipment and hands-on training.
The investment is personal for Ciara. Although she was born into a military family and lived in several places growing up, her family eventually settled in the Atlanta area during her teenage years. Atlanta became the backdrop for her rise as an artist and the launching pad for a career that has now spanned more than two decades.
Her latest gift is also part of a growing philanthropic footprint in the city.
In July 2025, Ciara and her husband, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson, helped open the Why Not You Dance Center at the John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta’s West End, creating a dedicated space for young people to develop confidence and skills through dance.

Later that year, the couple’s Why Not You Foundation committed $500,000 to fighting food insecurity in Atlanta, supporting the Atlanta Community Food Bank and ATL Cares and helping provide more than one million meals.
Together, Ciara and Wilson have made philanthropy a central part of their public life. Wilson founded the Why Not You Foundation in 2014, with a focus on education, children’s health and fighting poverty.
Their giving has extended beyond Atlanta. The foundation has made multimillion-dollar investments in children’s health initiatives, including a $3 million gift to Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital and a $2 million contribution to the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation.
A $5,000 grant may seem modest compared with multimillion-dollar philanthropic commitments, but for a local organization, it can be transformational. It can place an instrument in a student’s hands, cover training for an aspiring filmmaker, provide equipment for a young athlete or expose a teenager to a career they had never imagined.
Celebrity philanthropy can have its greatest impact when it strengthens organizations already embedded in communities and brings additional visibility to their work. Ciara’s latest investment does exactly that.
